I ate at a really nice cuban place when I was there. I think it was called Havana 45 or something like that. Over in one of the Shockoe neighborhoods (Slip or Bottom, cant' remember which).

Richmond has lots of great places to eat. The ones mentioned already are good, I've added a few below.

Also, Joe's Inn usually has a good greek salad with the famous Hanover tomatoes this time of year.

Millie's, on Main St. very popular, kind of eclectic American.

The White Dog, my personal favorite, in the Fan small and friendly. They always have a good vegetarian, fish and carnivore special. The bread pudding is excellent.

Graffiti Grill, also American with a twist.

Europa, in Shockoe Bottom, tapas and mediterranean.

Bottoms Up, also in the Bottom. Great pizza.

Try looking at www.richmond.com for a list of local restaurants and contact info.

Alas, the White Dog has been gone for a few years..

And Millie's (pricewise) is higher 'n a cats back.

Try the Adelita Grill on Broad Rock (decent Mexican.. I'm from S Texas and find most of the Mexican on the east coast pretty mediocre..)

Also Mom's Siam on Cary and on Forest Hill.. the Forest Hill one is better.

Go to the Mid Atlantic board for more, but

Havana 59 in the Shocko Bottom has good Cuban food and is a lot of fun. In the Fan I would recommend Kuba Kuba, Akito, Zeus Cafe, Stella's, Davis and Main, Strawberry Street Cafe, and Joe's Inn.

Some of the best Italian food and wine in the city can be found at MAMMA ZU and EDO'S SQUID.

For more fancy stuff, Lemaire in the Jefferson Hotel.
