Ever been to Ponzu (Japanese in the Serrano Hotel on Taylor) or the Meetinghouse in Pacific Heights? I hear the latter has good desserts???

Have not been to the Meetinghouse but have been to Ponzu and loved it. If you like fusion cuisine, you will love this place. We had incredible spicy calamari with great dipping sauce, a whole fish that was mind-boggling,a grilled lamb dish and finally, some noodles (soba I seem to recall) with a variety of sauces that you add to alter the dish. One of them was a cilantro pesto, excellent. Can't recall more details or the names of the dishes, sorry, its been about a year. Very creative, delish and reasonably priced.

Thanks so much for the description of the food at Ponzu. It sounds like exactly what I would like. Hope to get there this coming trip.

Pozu describes itself as more fusion rather than Japanese. If you have more time in the neighborhood, you might want to check out the scene at Naan 'n' Curry on the opposite end of the block.

Have not been to Ponzu, but love the Meetinghouse for it's home-style cooking. Very filling, but great - let's just say you want be jogging anywhere afterwards. Their biscuits are awesome as well. Great desserts - everything is homemade. High recommendation although if you're a wine lover (ie. snob, LOL) you might want to bring a good bottle as their list is somewhat light.
