167756 Tue May 20 16:00:12 -0700 2003 3 14 Washington DC & Baltimore Area 0 897266 recently checked out cakelove on U Street in DC, and was really impressed. seems that warren brown is doing so well these days that he has several employees- i counted at least 5, and this place was bustling on a rainy saturday afternoon. i was in need of a quick birthday cake and was doubtful that they'd have any (need to order 24 hours in advance), but they had a raspberry yellow cake, german chocolate and chocolate with raspberry buttercream filling. opted for the latter (not cheap for $45; on the other hand, it serves 12-20). Delicious, decadent, dense chocolate layer cake with chocolate ganache frosting and rich raspberry flavored pink buttercream filling. looked good, tasted grand! a friend ordered some frosted cupcakes and mojito crunchy feet to go. so glad to see this local business doing well! more power to cakelove.
