As spring begins, I am in the bbq mood. The other day I started to search around to see if there was some good bbq place around that I had missed and came upon some unhappy news. It seems as though Ben's Whole Hog BBQ is no longer owned by Ben. This is quite a disappointment to me, but explained a bad experience that we had there in about January or February. When we went then, the lunch buffet was gone so we ordered a couple of sides and a couple of bbq sandwiches. We had brought some friends to try it as well. They got their food, same order, in about 10-15 minutes while it took over an hour for us to get ours. We went up several times to ask why and nobody could explain. There were only about 4 other people there so it made no sense. But, we were still happy to wait, but then it just was not very good - nothing like what we had had before. Has anyone else had this experience?

So, anyway, we had planned to try again, but when I discovered the possible reason for the change, I decided to just go to Dixie Bones, which is better and better each time we go. We also love Randy's in Hughesville, but I want more options. Does anyone have any other suggestions for really really good bbq in the area (up to a 2.5 hour drive).
