food in my neighborhood

Hi everyone. I've been reading chowhound religiously for months now but have never posted anything before today. I guess, in accordance with the rules, I should first divulge now that my boyfriend is the bartender at Lapis...so I promise not to talk about his restaurant.

I'm writing because I just (finally!) moved into San Francisco from Marin, and one of the things I'm most excited about is walking and bussing it to restaurants (plan to drive as little as possible). My new place is on Pine near Franklin...and I'm hoping to find some regular, affordable (aah...the rent is killing my expensive tastebud's penchance for fancy food), yummy places to frequent.

Gourmet Carousel is already a big winner...anybody else have good ideas around the neighborhood? Feel free to mention prime, walking distance drinking establishments as well...also late-night spots (open with food after 10PM) for snacking.

Thanks for your input!

Thanks for chiming in - Gourmet Carousel is good, isn't it? The new Persian restaurant on Sutter and VN with the grand opening sign looks intriguing, tried it yet?

Here's link to an earlier post to a late night place near you.
