Has anyone found a Northern Virginia source for garden rolls or Vietnamese sandwiches as good as Ba Le on Rockville Pike in Rockville? We live in Herndon, but every time we are somewhere near Rockville, we make a detour to pick up the outstanding garden rolls and lemongrass pork sandwiches at Ba Le. The garden rolls have tasty shrimp, a piece of chicken roll/pate and more herbs and veggies than most and as a result, they are much tastier than any others we've tried. The sandwiches are on a crusty french bread, with cucumber, carrots, cilantro, lemongrass pork, and a slice of hot pepper--pure heaven at $3 each, 6 for the price of 5.

Please don't even try to send me to the Ba Le in Falls Church. They never get the sandwich orders right (we suspect they don't do the lemongrass pork but refuse to just tell us that when we order) and their garden rolls have this nasty chicken gristle thing instead of the chicken roll/pate.

I like Song Que in Eden Center. Not sure if they have lemongrass pork sandwiches, though.

Thanks! We usually steer clear of Eden Center because of the parking. Little Saigon, which is just down Wilson Blvd near the Jiffy Lube, is fantastic. Their garden rolls don't measure up to the Ba Le standard, but their papaya salad and egg noodle soups are top notch.
