Kyoto Restaurant in Alexandria, VA?

Anyone heard anything about or been to Kyoto Restaurant on Rt. 1 in Alexandria? I was chit chatting with a fellow metro rider and she recommended it, saying it was known for its good sushi. We live very near there and are always seeking a good source for our sushi fixes. It's not listed in WashPost or Washingtonian. Any feedback? I'll probably be trying it soon, anyway, and will let ya'll know.

  1. I've never been much for Kyoto. I work in Old Town and have been a few times for lunch. The sushi portions always seem small and overpriced. Not much for the atmosphere either. Always feel like I'm eating at a Subway type establishment. But there's not much in the way of sushi in the area so if you are the mood for a quick sushi fix it does the trick.

Sometimes I prefer just heading down to Sutton Place though. Surprising good sushi to-go and not too pricy.

The lack of good sushi and bagel places in Old Town continues to frustrate me.

      1. Kyoto is decent imho, despite the location. There is another sushi restaurant on King Street near the tobacconist...name escapes me. Not bad either, but the dining room is rather dingy.....worth a look though.
