We are considering either Fior d'Italia or the North Beach Restaurant for our 11th anniversary dinner. Want something nice, but not stuffy or too expensive. Would appreciate any comments on these places. Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. Go for the North Beach restaurant...it is very good with a very extensive menu. I think Fior d'Italia has gone downhill. For something a little less expensive but truly IN, try La Felce (across the street from Fior) if its still there.

i agree. i went to fior d' italia last summer and found it to be incredibly average.

north beach restaurant is also just okay.

if you can get a reservation, you may want to try rose pistola on columbus. there is a little attitude, but the food is wonderful (try the chicken under a brick). also, it's around the same price as north beach restaurant.

    2. Consider Albono- on Francisco Street, towards Fisherman's Wharf. Precede with a drink at Sweetie's, down the block. Or downtown at Tadich's or Sam's- private booths and classic San Francisco.

      1. My suggestion is Caffe Sport on Green St. great Italian seafood. another North Beach Fave of mine is Ideale on Grant between Vallejo and Green. Haven't been in awhile, but enjoyed it when I was last there.
