There was a blurb in the Baltimore Sun a few months ago that, in addition to the first Wegmans store in Sterling, there's plans for another store in Northern Virginia and one in Timonium.

I'm from Syracuse and am also completely psyched about Wegamans arrival. I would drive an hour every week to shop there over the other supermarkets in town.

As soon as it arrives, go straight for the Dinosaur BBQ sauces and seasonings in the sauce aisle. Quite possibly the best BBQ sauce I've ever had.

damn, i love wegmans.

I am all excited too. We are former residents of the Syracuse and also miss Wegmans very much. We used to take out of town guests to the big one in Fayetteville and they could not believe their eyes! Enjoyed the reference to the Dinosaur Barbeque also as my son and daughter in law are coming down from Syracuse this week-end and I promised them a complete Dinosaur meal (their cookbook is wonderful)!

For sweet potato pecan pie you have to order from K-Paul's in New Orleans where they will ship it overnight. Unbelievably rich and made with Steen's pure cane syrup. You serve it over "Chantilly whipped cream" which is heavy whipped cream laced with courvoisier and Grand Marnier. Paul Prudhomme has this as one of his two signature desserts, along with his coconut cake. As much as I love Wegman's, K-Paul's is on another level with this. I order one every year for Thanksgiving.
