Any place with a REALLY good Reuben, luscious pickles, chicken soup with kreplach? I've been to Krupin's and I don't know what all the hype is about.

Try Breadline in the District or Chutzpah in Fairfax. Both are Jewish owned and both are delicious.

It's called the City Lights Cafe and it's also a kosher restaurant (which many of the Jewish-style delis are not). I have a colleague from NY who keeps kosher, so we always order from there when she's in town. Good grilled chicken sandwiches and decent tossed salads. There's not so much of the typical deli fare, but I think it's about the only kosher place available if you work downtown.

i agree with (and recommend) the parkway deli (a great pickle bar incl. sauerkraut and pickled tomatoes) and chutzpah (good chopped liver) posters.

back in the day attman's was good, but it's nothing to speak of now, and you might get knifed or at least accosted by a wino.

It sounds like you've not been to Attman's lately, particularly for the neighborhood. You have more of a chance of getting knifed or accosted by a wino on 17th street in DC than you do at Attman's, which is not much. The next time you go there, you'll notice all these big vacant lots which are due for some very nice developments within the next two years.

Before you start making comments which sound like they should be on the NYC board, please get your information straight.

I love parkway deli. The brisket sandwiches are very good, but big enough to split with someone else. It also has a carry out section, so if you wanted to get stuff to bring home it's great. I always buy the half done pickles and black and white cookies to bring home.
