Cultured Pearl

Hey there!

About 5 years ago the Cultured Pearl (across the street from the Hollins Market) closed down unceremoniously when the neighborhood took a down turn. We remember the owner saying he may reopen at another location. Does anyone happen to know if he has, indeed, opened a new restaurant. We SO miss our lazy Sunday lunches consisting of the best raspberry margaritas, mango salsa and green chili.

Thanks,
Debbie

Sad to say, last I heard Teddy was managing a WaWa in the county.

Well.. hello all.. First I would like to say how exciting to find a board for people who like to eat!!
May I make a suggestion?? Have you tried Little Havana on Key Highway? It's around the harbor past the AVM (American Visionary Art Museum) on the left hand side next to the old Globe Brewing Co. The food is cuban and Great!! I have never had anything bad there. It's reasonably priced and tasty. They have a really nice sunday brunch. And if you're brave have a mojito. It's rum and mint and limes..YUMMY!! The empenadas come 2 ways.. The cuban sandwich is delicious and all the sandwich entrees come with fried plantains instead of chips. Plus, they have a nice outside deck with a view of the harbor. I play pool there for league play a few times a year and my team always looks forward to going there because of the food. Wooo. sorry about the long post, got a litte carried away with myself...

I don't have anything to add to your post. Just wanted to let you know that at least one person on here got your Fleshtones reference. :>D

            Hey eag,

This is my first time posting, too. I also recommend the black bean cakes at Little Havana. They've got great wings(cheap on certain nights). The wings are grilled. instead of fried, and come with a sour-hot, vinegary dipping sauce, with lots of herbs (almost like chimchurri sauce). Hey, you know, the funny thing is, I'm on a pool team, too, and we also love to play at Little Havana's for the food! (wink wink)

How sad is it that Teddy's talents are being wasted at a WaWa. He had mentioned to us he might be doing some rare book work as well...guess that fell through too...
