Bubble Tea in DC?

Bubble tea comes from Eastern Asia (someone said Taiwan, originally). It's a sweet, cold tea, with tapioca balls in it that you drink through a straw. I heard it's big out in California, and I drank some in Chicago last weekend, and was completely hooked. Does anyone know where I might find some in D.C.?

  1. Many varieties at the new Wok 'n' Roll (groan) on H St. between 6th and 7th. (Fairly good, if my initial taste today is any indication.) Only one tapioca-pearl option at Teaism on 8th St. between D and E -- but it's a bit better (and slightly more expensive).

Several places in the Eden Center in Falls Church (Wilson Blvd near Rt. 7) offer bubble tea.

And if you find yourself in Rockville, there are two bubble tea outlets in Wintergreen Plaza - Ten Ren and I.Cream.

I got hooked on the stuff while in Vancouver. Definitely more fun than a latte, although probably not much healthier...

I suspect I already know the answer to this, but does anyone know where to get bubble tea in Baltimore?

I have had bubble tea at Ten Ren in Rockville (Wintergreen Plaza - Rockville Pike) and have also had at Maria's Bakery (Rockville Pike). Both good. While at Maria's you can get some nice cakes and stuffed buns: curry, red bean, roast pork, etc. etc. So, I usually go to Maria's more often...one stop shop. :-)

      2. FYI - You can get bubble tea at Vina Bakery on Pickett Road in Fairfax near (but across the street & north of) Fair City Mall.
Their Vietnamese baked goods are fantastic, too.
