Returned last night to Lavandou. We hadn't been there since they expanded. The menu seemed more "bistro-like" but still very focused on Provence. I had a stuffed squid appetizer followed by grilled scallops and shrimp on a bed of saffron risotto. Quite good, indeed. We'd go back!
In the same block of Connecticut Avenue, I noticed that a new wine bar, Bardeo's, has opened next to Ardeo's, and was doing a booming business. The concept appears to be similar to Grapeseed in Bethesda ("tapas"-size portions of different entrees accompanied by 2-ounce pours of various complementary wines.
