Looking for a great place to celebrate a few birthdays (including #30 for me!) with a group or around 15. Would like someplace with a lot of atmosphere and of course, yummy food and drinks. Downtown DC is great, but willing to branch out. One birthday girl in the group loves The Palm, but we'd like branch out and try something new. Suggestions??? We need to make the reservation ASAP as this is for Saturday, August 4th. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
If you're looking for loud, fun and good location - try Mimis in dupont circle on P Street. The waitresses burst into song throughout the meal and it's a good group place. I wouldn't say it's one of the city's finest restaurants but it's loud, fun and the food was good when i went.
Here are some other suggestions: DC Coast (14th and K), Olives (16th and K), and Bis (15 E St., NW, on Capitol Hill). For an alternative to the Palm, try the Capital Grille (6th and Pennsylvania).
