  • d

any of you folks know of a good authentic ethiopian restaurant in the D.C area? If you know of one, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

  1. My two favorites are Zed's in G'town (expensive though) and Addis Ababa on 18th street in Adams Morgan. There is another one on 14th & P that I really liked, but I can't remember the name. I wonder if there's a good Ethiopian restaurant that has delivery available?

Demera Restaurant, 2325 S Eads St, Arlington, does a good job. I wanted quanta fir fir, which wasn't on the menu, but they made it for me, no problem. Kitfo is good, too.

What about Meskerem (18th St. NW)? Rather like that place....

I was there once for lunch and enjoyed it. And it's decorated nicely and has mesobs if I recall, which I can't say for Demera. But Demera is in Arlington, I'm in Alexandria, and it's a whole lot easier to get there.

I used to enjoy eating at Meskerem. However, the last couple of times I ate there (or from there), it was a cardamom extravaganza! And I mean everything--veggies, chicken, lamb--had an overwhelming sweet, heavy flavor. That was several months ago, though, maybe things are different now.

I gave Demera a call to see if they would deliver to Midtown DC, but no luck. They sounded like they would do a large order, but no dice for one or two schmucks stuck at the office!

The restaurant that I couldn't remember the name of in my previous post is Lalibela, on the corner of 14th & P NW.
