Is there really no one out there with ANY picks for Rutland Vt?

Rutland is a culinary wasteland. Go to Manchester or Killington for anything approaching palatability

I have since tried the sushi at Tokyo House and liked it. I'm over the Panda place in the Home Depot parking lot. I haven't been able to try Harry's because its only open for dinner.

So basically, I totally agree that Rutland is a culinary wasteland.

I usually don't eat in Rutland because I'm on my way to Williston or Bennington after, but 2 places I've tried that I thought were pretty good are:

Lenny's hot dog stand (homemade sweet and spicy relish) - it's Rte 7 Northbound heading towards Brandon.

Panda somthing - in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Rte 4. Not bad Chinese food at really cheap lunch prices. Good hot & sour soup with pork. I'm originally from California so have become somewhat jaded as to the possibility of good Chinese/Japanese/Mexican here, but this is one of the better Chinese places I've tried throughout VT/NH/MA.

Is Gills the place with great subs? They use shredded cabbage instead of lettuce. I think you can also get lettuce. A little further out in Fairhaven is the Fairhaven Inn. Try the calamari and the Greek Lamb!

Three Tomatoes (Italian), located "downtown". I don't have many specifics to offer about it, only that I had a decent meal there a couple of summers ago.

What kind of picks are you looking for?

Howdy, I posted last week and got nothing! Anything but super expensive. Just to give you an example of my tastes I think Gill's is fabulous, and I love the Blue Benn in Bennington.

There was a decent cafe/sandwich place right on Main St. An Americanized Chinese place on Pleasant (?) that's been there forever. I remember the fried jumbo shrimp were good. Harry's is probably more than you want to spend. Does the diner still exist on the main drag coming into town?

There is the Midway Diner on Route 7..havent been in a long time so can't comment. We like Ramunto's Pizza on Strongs Ave.

To be honest I don't eat in Rutland much...

When I do I will always vote for Tokyo House on West Street, downtown. Best sushi I've had. And yes I've had sushi outside of Vt. ;-)
