Dungeness Crab

Ivan Stoler Dec 13, 2000 11:51 AM

I will be in town soon and I am looking for a place to have some good local crab. Anyplace that specializes in crab like they do in Baltimore (but not cooked in that style)? Thanks

The best dungeness crab can be found in Hong Kong style chinese restaurants ----- I like Pearl City or R&G Lounge in Chinatown ------- the best garlic crab can be found in St. Helena at Tra Vigne -----have fun

As far as I am concerned Swan Oyster Depot is THE ONLY place to go for delicious freshly cracked Dungeness Crab. I am a chef new to SF (from Boston) and a dear food writer friend of mine took me to Swan (on Polk Street) my first week here. It is my fave lunch spot. I would go there for dinner, but this tiny family owned spot is only open while the sun is shining.
