Oakland Chinatown

Any suggestions for great Chinese food in Oakland's Chinatown?

Dim sum is good @ Jade Villa on Broadway. Peak times wait is long but worth it. Try to get aisle seat by kitchen for best, hottest selection.

Can't remember the last time I ate at Jade Villa. Glad to hear it's still good.

I've been going to Sun Hong Kong - 7th or 8th off Webster - for over 20 years - best Hong Kong style seafood in the Bay-area. They have a branch in downtown Berkeley and in S.F. Chinatown ---- check out the clams in blackbean sauce or the chow shu chow mein (roast pork crispy fried noodles) Open until 2:00am.

        These are my favorites:

Peony for sit down dim sum (in the Renaissance Center, 2nd floor)

Tao Yuen on Franklin (just south of Renaissance Center) for the best "to-go" steamed bbq pork buns and other treats

Yung Kee (9th and Webster-across the street from Bank of Canton) for quick and cheap noodle soup, bbq pork and chow fun

Yung Kee is my favorite for a speedy hot lunch in Oakland Chinatown. I usually get the duck soup noodles.

oooh, I'll have to try them next time I'm there. I usually get some variation of soup noodles with BBQ pork. mmmmm.

            Have you tried Peony yet?

Sorry to report that I haven't been to Peony yet. Most weekends I'm up north.
