Old Mandarin Islamic

I noticed this place at around 41st Ave. and Vicente in the city today. I didn't have time to sit down for lunch, but this is the first time I have seen Chinese Islamic food in the Bay Area. I've been to a few places in LA that were all excellent. Before I make the trip back out to the extremely outer Sunset, I figured I would ask here if anyone has tried this place and what you thought of it. Also, are there other Islamic Chinese restaurants in the area?

  1. We must be tuned into the same chowhound wavelength...I just found this place on the web and had planned to eat there Wednesday night. But couldn't get away until too late to make the trip out to the Sunset.

I was looking at the site below trying to find Kurdish restaurants and was intrigued by the listing of Old Mandarin Islamic. I've seen these types of restaurants in Hong Kong, but this is the first I've noticed in SF. The site doesn't list any others in the City, but does have a few more listings for the South Bay.

Let's see if anyone has more to report on this place.

Ma's Restaurant in the shopping center at 1633 Lundy in San Jose is excellent. Comparable to Tung Lai Shun in San Gabriel.

Yes, that's one that was mentioned on the site in the South Bay. Sounds good, I'll have to try it.

The one must dish at any Chinese islamic restaurant is the sesame bread. (You won't see a table that doesn't have it.) Unfortunately, it's a meal in itself if you don't have a large group of people.

    2. I've eaten both lunch and dinner at Darda in Milpitas and this place is Chinese Islamic style cooking.
