Seeing that the last review was last summer, here's mine from Saturday evening - a beautiful, temperate evening to sit out on the deck for dinner, while the marina quietly buzzed as people eventually filled out the pier-side outdoor bar - but the noise was a happy noise -

Their website says attire is three piece suit or bathing suit (with wrap), though having come from Horseneck Beach, I was happy to be in a pair of jeans.

Appetizers: A cold gazpacho with avocado, shrimp and cracked cumin - the soup was very light, almost like a heavy juice, flavored similar to a pico de gallo - the avocado was added at serving, I am guessing, and it took a little while to soften - once it did, it complemented. A good light starter -

Also ordered 6 littlenecks - good with horseradish although I suspect it is not fresh because it didn't make my eyes water and I caught a piece of shell on one.

Entrees: Applewood-smoked scallops over a tomato/corn mix - very tasty - the scallops were huge.

Swordfish over a tomato-y relish - it was perfectly cooked, still moist - very tasty -

Desserts were a surprisingly light buttermilk chocolate cake and a strawberry-rhubarb crisp. Espresso served with a lemon zest -

Plus a pitcher of good red sangria for $9 -

All in all, I think this place is a tiny bit over-priced, but it is somehow in my mind the perfect summer restaurant, especially if you are seated outside. With the sun setting over the marina with a full view of the Westport shores, the smell and sound of the sea and fine dining - a great and romantic end to a beautiful day at the beach.

Nice review. Strangely enough, I went to Horseneck late on Saturday afternoon and almost popped in to the Back Eddy at around 6:00 but surmised the deck would be crowded so I passed. Have always enjoyed the place and while I agree it is a little expensive, have never had a bad meal there and it does have a million dollar view if get a seat on the back deck.

What was the fish of the day if you remember?

Not sure of the fish of the day, other than the special, which was the swordfish. I also think the scallops may have been on the specials menu too. Honestly, after that pitcher of sangria and staring into the setting sun for two hours, everything is a little blurry. 8-)

Love this place and have since they opened.

Oddly enough we were planning to have our rehearsal dinner there but they cannot accommodate our party of 25 which is a real pain. The smaller room holds 18 and the larger one the side they say has a minimum of 35.
Any idea of something that might be a substitute that is in the area? Maybe the Stone House Club?

Thanks,
