Berkeley Danish (pastry, that is)
Recent discussions of the Rockridge area reminded me to recommend what is the best Dansih pastry I've had...anywhere, which is at Nabalom on Russel just east of College Ave. (one block north of Ashby Ave.) in Elmwood. Admittedly, it's been a while, but they were consistently great for many years, so I'd be surprised at a downhill slide. Flaky, buttery, very fresh pastry, slightly sweetened cheese, and your choice of fruit. Actual fruit, not preserves, and not really (or barely) sweetened. My perennial favorite is the blackberry. They also make a rich, dome-shaped cookie they call Chocolatines that are great.
