Umm....howdad, you might get some kindly, far-ranging Vermont Hounds to respond. but Shelburne Farms is not in Southern Vt,. It's in the Greater Burlington area, Northern Vt.. The commonly accepted dividing line is Route 4 / Rutland as being Central Vt. So I would suggest doing an OP for Shelburne itself :-))

Harp00n, above, is correct. The Shelburne Farms Inn is in, well, Shelburne...south of Burlington.

I always recommend Pauline's in Shelburne on Rte.7 North, just a mile or two north of the Shelburne Museum. There is a huge Sirloin Saloon in the same area - a really good Chinese restaurant the name of which I forget but, there are many restaurants along that stretch of Rte. 7. If you go south there's a nice restaurant in Vergennes, but that's a little ways down from the Farms Inn.

Would you know anything in the Stowe area? I drove through there, just past the old Stowe Inn and on my left was a lodge and the main part had a huge veranda. I cannot remember the name of the place now. Are you familiar with it. I need a place that can hold about 30 people for a group dinner.

I too have only driven through Stowe. We did stop for a short time at the Trapp Family Lodge. In fact, I went into the gift shop to look for Maria von Trapp's books, and just missed her by a minute. The clerk said the chair she was sitting in was still warm.....but I digress, sorry!
I think the Trapp Lodge might be able to accommodate you. It was midafternoon and we weren't hungry, darn it, so I cannot give it a food rec. They have been there since 1950 so they must be doing something right.
