My office mate, an older Jewish man, really enjoys Fox's deli in the Westville section of New Haven. Thoughts on the deli? I'm looking for as close to a New York kosher deli as possible. Please no recs for Reins. It is okay in a pinch, but not up to the standards I want.
I live nearby, but I'm orig from Brooklyn, so I know deli. This place, by the Westville Kosher bakery, is OK, but definitely not up to NYC standards. Better than Rein's, and OK for CT. All the food here pretty much stinks. Even when they try to be "NYish", they fail. In quality and quantity. Sorry.
I believe over on rte 69 in westville there is a Katz's deli that good a really good review last year.
KATZ'S RESTAURANT & DELI
[Bagel, Breakfast, Delicatessens]
1658 Litchfield Tpke.
Katz's, a New York-style deli, has fast, friendly table service and a full menufrom light snacks, such as stuffed cabbage and large bowls of soup to hot platters with French fries and gravy. The deli has triple-decker clubs, deluxe smoked fish platters and four kinds of Reubens. ($)
This is very close to where you are talking about. Richie
