Mistrals in Manchester,VT...good meal
My friend and I found Mistrals in Manchester,VT on a whim while staying over in Manchester this past friday night. We were driving up this lonely road just outside of town about to turn around and head back to town when we saw this lonely light by the side of the road. We took a drive in and had a terrific meal. They started us out with an olive tapenade and small pieces ot toasted bread. I normally don't like olives but woofed it right down! We split the crab cakes appeitzer and for eating crab cakes for the 1st time I enjoyed them. I am getting adventurous in my old age! Next he had the veal tenderloin wrapped with a smoky bacon and I had the filet mignon. Both were fork tender. His was served with mashed and I had boiled potatoes with veggies on the side. There was some kind of mushroom sauce over the top of each piece of meat. We shared the creme caramel for dessert to finish off a wonderful meal in the woods.
My wife and I made a reservation at Mistral's and arrived on time . Had my pressed sport jacket on and looked fit. The woman at the door (and the owner no less ) just totally dissed us. Took a ( Hello there Dr. Smithers.. ) regular ahead of us. Then did it again right in front of us.... I've never been so jilted and mortified at the door of a restaurant in my life. OUCH. Couldn't say anything about the food because we absolutely just turned and walked. So many other fine choices in Manchester that I've never missed that ungracious place.
Think well about: Chanticleer , Bistro Henry, Perfect Wife. All are absolutely great.
