Warrens is nothing special. Of course this is my opinion, but if you liked Yokens, you'd probably like Warrens? Their main claim to fame is their salad bar. This is based on one trip to Warrens, where we had to wait quite a long time, I don't recall being impressed with any of the food. Certainly not worth a long wait.

I saw your other comment on Kittery - IMHO - Bob's clams are much better than either Petey's or Ray's. Bob's are as close as you will find to Clam Box/Essex Seafood (Cape Ann, MA) clams close to Portsmouth.

If Warren's = Yokens, 'nuff said!!!!!!!. I lived in Rye for 5 yrs, and go back at least once a year as parents are still there (hence the shopping trip with mom this weekend in kittery). Have been to Rays and I think to Petes. I guess I was just looking for the perfect lobster roll (am partial to Al's on Route 1 in N Hampton) and thought I'd look for one in Kittery while there. Anywho, am not a "piss clam" lover to these clam shack ideas are missing the mark for me. I am more a littleneck kinda girl. Thanks for your input!!! And VERY glad you made that warrens/yokens reference

If you want the "best" lobster roll, your going to have to take a drive to Wiscasset, ME.

In the local (Seacoast NH) area I think Browns in Seabrook has best lobster roll I've had at least. I had a lobster roll at Petey's a couple weeks ago - it was served on (the horror) a hamburger bun.

You might try Chauncey Creek, no personal experience with it, but it looks interesting to try. To get there take Rt103 after crossing the State Street bridge from Portsmouth. Pay close attention to the roadside signs - easy to miss.

We stopped at Warren's several years ago and weren't very impressed. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. It seems to cater to tourists. I did, however, find their New England clam chowder recipe online a few years ago and have been making it ever since. It is excellent....at least the way I make it....LOL! We often drive to Kittery from CT to shop and almost always stop at Seaview Lobster Co. to purchase live lobsters to take home and enjoy....the best! Red's Eats in Wiscasset has a delicious lobster roll.
