Also on the Berlin turnpike is the Olympic Diner which is pretty good. If they like Mexican Puerto Vallarta is a good place (it's a small chain) but is kid-friendly. It may sound cheesy, but a trip to Stew Lenonard's could be pretty fun. The ice cream and the homemade potato chips are excellent and they have great prepared food, as well as a cafeteria upstairs. It would be a fun place for a quick lunch. Oh, and if you like hotdogs and stuff, there's also Doogie's on the Berlin Turnpike as well....
