Whales Rib Tavern on the lower level of the Pilgrim's Inn is pretty dependable, not that steep, and kinda fun. Never dinned at the Inn before but this seems like a nice direction. Very lively, friendly and nice bar/keeping room to wait out the crowd. Cleonice is worth the trip, in Ellsworth. The lamb burger is divoon.

Your are at a fine dining spot but the Pilgrim's Inn is just down the road and Cleonice {Mediterranean)is in Ellsworth. Dennetts Warf is in Castine and is fun for seafood and if you go to Stonington Fisherman's Friend for seafood and The Bayview for just plain good cooking.

We stayed at Goose Cove about 5 years ago and had a fantastic meal at Fisherman's Friend (simple, unbelievably fresh seafood) and 2 amazing meals at the restaurant at Goose Cove. Our visit coincided with a wine-tasting dinnner and each course was better than the last. The breakfasts there weren't too exciting, but be sure and have at least one dinner there--you won't be disappointed.
