PDX: Beaverton lunch spot?
Hello NW Board!
L.A. c-hound will be visiting PDX area for 10 days, towards the end of June, and have enjoyed reading about the restaurant possibilities that the greater PDX area has to offer.
However, have not seen much posted about places to eat in Beaverton - during my visit, I must go to Beaverton during the day, during the week - are there any lunches of note to be found in Beaverton?
Note: Not Asian. Open Monday lunch a plus.
Many thanx in advance!

I'll second the noms on Hall St. Bar & Grill.
Helvetia Tavern out towards Hillsboro
Nonna Emilias just off TV Hwy towards Aloha
McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse (also great for after work)
McMenamins Cedar Hills (also great for after work)
Changs Mongolian Grill (You put together your own food, they cook it so you get just what you want. Pretty reasonable prices and great for lunch - all you can eat.)

Cafe Murrayhill [http://www.cafemurrayhill.com/] is a comfortable Beaverton, Oregon neighborhood cafe. You will find great modern American cuisine and a great view overlooking the lake. They serve breakfast, lunch weekend brunch and dinner plus desserts, wine and beer.

I second Mingo, Hall St, Burgerville and McCormicks.
I would not recommend Ernesto's.
Reo's is pretty good BBQ, but not mind blowing.
I (and many others) are addicted to Chicken Bar, near Trader Joe's. Great grilled chicken on brown rice with a side of iced tea. That's a bodybuilder's lunch! -
Many of my favorite lunch spots in Beaverton are asian and I'll at least mention them even though you said you didn't prefer asian.
I'll second the vote for Mingo's at the Beaverton Round. Great italian food and a nice atmosphere. Typhoon is also located there and is an asian fusion version of Thai. Also secoond the vote for Gloria's Secret.
La Fogata (Mexican) is off 117th Ave just north of Canyon Lane. Pretty good variety of foods.
Abhiruchi South & North Indian restaurant is on Murray just North of Canyon Rd in the K-Mart shopping center. Really good (and good value) Indian lunch buffet. Much better than Sawgat in my opinion.
The Beaverton Town Center has Pho Van (pretty good Vietnamese), and across the street (north of Canyon Rd) is Jin Wha which has a good value chinese lunch as well as dim sum, etc. Fast, tasty and inexpensive.
As you go north on Hall St from Canyon Rd, Hall St Grill is nice and when you get to Cedar Hills Crossing there are a lot of fast food places as well as Bugatti's and McGrath's Seafood. Baja Fresh is next to Borders on Cedar Hills Blvd for pretty good fast mexican or you can get good authentic tacos or tortas at Richi's taco truck on Lombard, just N of Canyon Rd.
If you venture a few blocks east of OR 217 on Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy you can hit Ernesto's Italian Restaurant which is a good red-sauce italian place that has a pretty good lunch buffet. They used to carve roast beef on Thursdays as I recall. Lots of salad, pizza, soup, pasta, etc at the buffet. -

Unfortunately, the best lunch spots in Beaverton are mostly asian places!
Places that aren't bad:
Giovanni's - Old skool italian classics like chicken parm sandwiches and rigatoni.
Mingo - Really good modern italian. Spendy. Try the penne/braised beef w/espresso. Mmm.
Swagat - Don't know if this counts as asian. Good indian lunch buffet on the outskirts of the Beav.
Burgerville! - I don't know how you'll stack it up to Tommy's or In'n'Out, but they do good cheeseburgers, and things like fresh strawberry milkshakes.
Hall St Grill - Upscale new american, things like bisques and salmon club sandwiches. Spendy, nice atmosphere.
McCormick's Fish House - Like Hall St, only emphasis on seafood.
Hope this helps.›4 Replies
