Best Cape Ann Clams

Happened to go by Woodmans and see a line of about 150 snaking down the sidewalk. Headed over to Farnhams, mobbed. We passed Essex Seafood and did a u-e; man I am glad we did. It was a shorter wait and the food was outstanding. Very crisp, great flavor (oysters, cod, squid and scallops too)and in the rough. The people who own and run it live upstairs.

I've always been devoted to Woodman's. But last Friday I visited it, Farnham's, and the Clam Box. And the Clam Box' clams were clearly no. 1. Very light and unlike Woodman's, not at all greasy.

Yep, the Clam Box is great if you have the bucks and the patience. I find Essex Seafood a little cheaper, a little less crowded, and just as great.
