<content>We're on Martha's Vineyard for nearly three weeks, for the first time in over a decade. Would appreciate suggestions for:

1. Farm stand for veggies/fruits

2. Special restaurant for 9th Wedding Anniversary

3. Fried clams

4. Anything else you think is exceptional here!

Thanks,

Nancy</content>

<content>I just got back from Martha's Vineyard. What a beautiful place.

Just about any farmstand you stop at will have great stuff. I liked the Beetlebung farmstand in Chilmark although I didn't stop there this time. Thimble Farm is excellent. We would just go for a ride around the island along the "main" roads and happen to stop at any farmstand we saw and bought what looked good.

For a special dinner, try Balance in Oak Bluffs. The Feast in Chilmark gets good reviews as does the new Ice House restaurant (where the Red Cat used to be). L'Etoile is also very nice.

If you want great fried clams (and any other fried seafood), try The Bite in Menemsha. It is just a little shack and they make the best fried seafood on the island. For pricey, but casual, fried seafood - try Homeport in Menemsha. This place has the bets view of any restaurant on the island.

For great breads and pastries for breakfast, try the Black Dog Bakery (not to be confused with the tavern). The best seafood market anywhere in New England is the Net Result in Tisbury. It is owned by the Larsens and you will not be disappointed. The best breakfast can be found at the Artcliff diner (in Tisbury).

Enjoy!!!! </content>

<content>I highly recommend Morning Glory Farm, which I believe is right off the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road. (down a side street ... the name escapes me)

For seafood we always go John's near the big grocery store (Cronig's) in Vineyard Haven, or Pool's Fish in Menemsha (near The Bite and Homeport).

But I agree that you can find wonderful, fresh produce and seafood all over the island! </content>

<content>I've never been to John's - have you tried the Net Result over on Beach Road in Tisbury? It is fantastic. Next door to John's is Sandy's Fish &amp; Chips - have you ever tried it there and if so, was it good? I do love Cronig's grocery store - it is our first stop on the island after getting settled in the house. </content>

<content>Nope -- never tried the Net Result in Tisbury, but I will put it on my list of places to check out when I am on the Vineyard next month (I can't wait!).

Not sure if it was at Sandy's Fish &amp; Chips or John's, but I've had excellent Clam Chowder at one of the two places. And the crab cakes (pre-made) from John's are great -- not too bready.

(BTW- Morning Glory is off the Edgartown-TISBURY Road, not Edg.-Vineyard Haven Road as previously posted. Sorry.)</content>

      <content>Hello all!

Thanks for the suggestions, which we'll be sure to act upon! Ice House was also recommended by a friend up here, so we're going to do that for our anniversary dinner (#9 married, 15 years together) - next year's 10 married, we'll upgrade a few notches more!

Looking forward to good eats, thanks to you!

<content>Morning Glory Farm is a wonderful Farm market located right off of Edgartown-WEST TISBURY Rd. If you'r going from Edg. to W.T., it's only a bout a mile or two up the rd. on your left (you'll see it), or if you're coming from W.T., it will be on you're right.
Definitely go to The Bite in Menemsha for fried clams. They are devine, even to Islander standards. If you're there durring the summer, go to the Farmers' Market that takes place every Saturday and Wednesday mornings in Chilmark. Great variety, support local business'. Go to dinner at this new resteraunt that opened up i Oak Bluffs called Park Corner Bistro. It's the best resteraunt I've ever been to on M.V., and I grew up out there. Forget about the Black Dog. They're under new ownership and it has gone nowhere but downhill for as long as I can remember. The only thing they do right is Breakfast. Avoid the Black Dog Cafe at at all cost! Try Alchemy for luch. Real gormet for real prices. Good luck!</content>

<content>"The best seafood market anywhere in New England"? That is a LOT of seafood markets. You sure you've tried 'em all?

Some years ago, my SO went to a fish market in South Dennis (Cape Cod) to get us some fish for dinner. Eyeing the bluefish, she asked inquired as to its freshness.
"Lady," said the counterman, "those fish were swimming in Cape Cod Bay when you were!"
He wasn't kidding, those were some fresh blues!</content>

<content>Larsen's in Menemsha has the best seafood and setting. I've been going for almost 50 years. You can sit on the dock and eat raw clams or oysters, steamed clams, and boiled lobster. You can also buy the above or fish to cook at home. </content>
