Eating Out in Jonesport, Maine

Professor Warren H. Chelline Mar 25, 2001 03:36 PM

Jonesport is not very touristy, except on the 4th of July. The only place to "eat out" is "The Seafarer's Wife," and it is GOOD. Close to being "up-scale." Not too pricey, and nicely staffed by local folks. It is well worth a trip, but hard to find--tucked back among the pine trees, next to the turn-off road up to the high school. I love Jonesport--born there 77 years ago, but long gone--living in Missouri for 35 years. Professor Chelline

The Seafarer's Wife sounds like a destination trip for us living on MDI. What are its hours?

Thank you for the tip Professor...you've just given me reason enough to head up Route 1 instead of taking Route 9 (the Airline) on my next trip to New Brunswick. Though I will still need to stop in at the BlueBird Restaurant in Machias for a cup of their bread pudding.

While you're at it, maybe you could stop in at Just Barb's in Stockton Springs. It's quite a drive for me, but you may go right by it! Let us hear, if you do.
