In honor of Cinquo de Mayo, we would like to go out and find some authentic ceviche like we had last year in Costa Rica. :-) Boston or north would be great, I'm thinking there must be a good place in Chelsea. Or Cambridge maybe??

Cilantro in Salem has a passable shrimp ceviche on the menu, but I would love to find something more authentic.

Thanks!

Yucatan Tacos on Centre St.in Roslindale has a ceviche appetizer that's really nice. Very small shrimps marinated in lime juice with tomato, onion, cilantro and a good hit of black pepper.

The chef is from the Yucatan, and for my taste he has a great way with flavors. There's also a good fresh quality to everything he makes.

Something else to try is anything with beef in it. He uses his "Mom's Recipe" and the beef comes in tender and flavorful cubes.

The Burrito Blog has a page on them and it includes a link to a picture of the menu posted on Flickr.

We ended up at Cilantro on Friday, ceviche was so-so, guacamole was great, but the winner was the whole crispy red snapper. Big enough for two to share. They also have a great tequila selection, and the owners are as nice as can be. They were jamming on Friday night, but service was still good. The prices are a little high, but the overall experience was a good one.

And thanks for the Rincon Limeno rec! We went on Saturday night and had the ceviche, which was excellent - exactly what we were looking for. We ordered the seafood mixto, which consisted of shrimp, calimari, and a pinkish fish (snapper maybe?). Very, very good.

I can't wait to go back and try the big plate of fish stew that the guys next to us were eating, it looked fabulous.
