Forget the North End, where would you park, anyway? ;-)

Seriously, go to Capone Foods, formerly of the North End, now in Union Square, Somerville (on Bow Street, opposite Goodyear Tire). All sorts of shapes and flavors cut fresh to order (he supplies many of the best restaurants around), plus great frozen ravioli and sauces, a terrific olive oil and balsamic vinegar selection (free tastings on Saturdays!), and lots more goodies.

Oops! I misstated, Capone used to be in Haymarket, not the North End. Close, but NOT the same thing!

And the owner is (really) named Al Capone. Very nice guy, and a serious foodie.

I remember Al Capone's on Broad St..sold fresh pasta in the back of the store.

They reopened a few years ago in downtown xing..still doing huge pizza slices and subs. I haven't been lately and can't vouch for the quality.

Sadly,no more fresh pasta.
