Tim's regulars/former regulars
Last I recall reading, at least one of you had given up on it, though I can't seem to find that thread. What's the latest? Burgers or no burgers? Good or no good?
What I can't recall at all was the result of all that renovation. Is it totally different or just cleaned up?
Thanks!

Still not open
It was a refurb of the whole kitchen

I walk by everyday and it doesn't seem to be renovated at all, in any way. I have popped in and asked about food somany times, I gave up myself. Anyone else know????

As Locutus notes, it was a kitchen refurb. It does look like work has been done to the kitchen, but the kitchen has not re-opened (well since that one weird occasion).

Drove by this afternoon and watched as two guys changed the locks and a police officer put up notices that they were evicted per order of the Boston Municipal Court.

I am dead on the floor! Say it isnt so! I have been going there for YEARS....long before the tragic gentrification of the SE. What a shame!

If you've been going long enough, you'll remember this happened before. The building owner also has his hand in the business. He dosen't pay his taxes, etc., the tenant gets bounced, he makes sure one of his own goes in and gets the license.

I'm very sad to see Tim's closed: it was a great hangout, one I infinitely preferred to (the) Clerys next door. It served one of my favorite burgers in town.
But I wouldn't call the gentrification of the South End exactly a tragedy. Being able to walk down Shawmut Ave in broad daylight without getting mugged strikes me as a distinct upgrade. (Attend a D4 meeting some time: there's still plenty of crime in the neighborhood.)
You can certainly bemoan the fact that some longtime residents have been forced to move out because of rising rents and taxes, and that cool Old Man Bars have been replaced by glossy yupscum hangouts. But as a resident and a Chowhound, I can't say I'm sorry to see the neighborhood get safer, and populated by many more restaurants, even if a bunch of them are too pricey.

Pretty sad.
I hope the new ownership at Anchovie's doesn't do something drastic (like knock down a wall and combine forces).
