Maria Bonita in North Cambridge, Mexican
I love Maria Bonita in North Cambridge, a Mexican restaurant on Mass Ave. I was curious to hear what other people think of the restaurant and any dishes that you like especially.
We like the chicken enchilada dish, the home-made chips, and the fresh guacamole.

I live a block from Maria Bonita's and have eaten there a bunch of times, although not in the past few months. They have my very favorite chile rellenos in Boston. Although I haven't eaten this dish at too many other places, I did eat it a month ago in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and I think the ones at Bonita's were just as good. They used to have a killer deal on Mexican breakfast plates, such as huevos rancheros (fried eggs with Mexican seasoning) and huevos con carne (essentially omelette-like eggs cooked with shredded beef). They wouldn't blow your socks off, but for $2.95, they were incredibly hearty breakfasts, especially since they came with tasty refried beans and awesome chips. However, I think they raised the prices (they were too good to be true). Their tortilla chips are still the most authentic-feeling of any I've tried among the dozen or so Mexican restaurants in the area - very thick and hearty wedges, deep fried to a crunchy crisp; the antithesis of On the Border or Border Cafe. I know people who like their tamales, but I thought they were average. Their enchiladas and burritos were solid, if unspectacular. I like the homey feel of the place, and the workers seem especially kind and gentle people. In conclusion, I think it's worth a short drive for solid Mexican food that is *cheap* and simple.

I love Maria Bonita.
Everything is cooked fresh to order, the owner and his wife are so nice and friendly, the place is warm, clean and cute and you can have a great meal for under 10.00. How could you go wrong??
They now sell beer and have great Mexican juice and soda.
My favorite currently are the tamales, they are addictive especially on a cold winter day. -
It has gotten mixed reviews so far here.
