Hate to rain on the parade here, but the time I went the food was not in the least good, worst of which was the burned bread brought out and even acknowledged by the waitress as such. Couldn't believe it.
Byblos right down the street is an infinitely better place.

absolutely shocking, bachslunch. I'm curious to know when this occurred; I would never think, based on the solid experience we had, that burnt bread or anything like that was even a possibility there. Everything was perfect. I suppose it's possible that you (or I) were the wild anomaly, but my BF's parents have had an equally amazing dinner in their past 4 visits and they are pretty picky, what with his mom being a great cook herself and preferring not to eat out too often.
Given the stats, I think you just happened to be there on a very off night, b/c this place certainly has their act together now!

My boyfriend's parents have been raving about this place, and we finally joined his dad for dinner last Saturday night. The service was exceptional - our waiter was efficient without being overbearing, knowledgeable, and accomodating - and there was a party of 16 in there! no effect on our service at all. Plus, the chef came out and spoke with us briefly, nice guy - told us about their "from scratch only" policy, which is always nice.
I had the mussels dijonaisse, which was a breath of fresh air from my usual white wine and garlic or marinara preparation - definitely had a little kick to it, and the mussels were nice sized and very fresh. we each had a spinach salad with pine nuts, and the goat cheese was pillowy and delicious. Would have liked to try the Caesar just to see their take on it - next time!
BF's pork chop was perfectly cooked and encrusted with a flavorful chipotle, which added a nice touch to this standard, sauteed spinach was inhaled in 2 seconds, and the mashed sweet potatoes rounded out his great meal. his father got the special, the sole stuffed with crab meat, which he raved about. I wondered how it could get better, but it did - dad had a peach cobbler-esque dessert and I had the molten choc cake, which I usually like to "ooze out" (this one was warm and gooey in the center but didn't ooze) but i was fine with that b/c it was so delicious! rich, but not too heavy, balanced by a homemade-tasting vanilla ice cream.
all in all, we were thoroughly impressed by Bistro 712 and the residents of Norwood are lucky to have it.

re: rosie17
Four of us were there a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the food. The duck and the appetizer of seared scallops was superb. Service was terrific and we had a nice, informative chat with the chef/owner. We came in from Burlington and we would definitely make the trek out there again soon.

Have eaten there twice. I really like the atmosphere and what they have done with the space - very relaxing, not sitting on top of the next table. The menu is a bit limited, but still we never had trouble finding something to order. The food is good - nothing exceptional - and that's fine because this rage of wanting your socks knocked off for a ridiculous amount of money has truly gotten out of hand. Anyway, that's another story.
I get the feeling each time I go there that the place is evolving and will continue to get better. I did note the last time that the prices had gone up since my first visit. I hope they succeed - the area needs more restaurants in this class. I would say give it a try.
