Sel de la Terre would do splendidly. Much quieter, great wine list, and very good food. More expensive than Kingfish but still reasonable. $10 for apps, $25 for entrees.

Although I just posted for Houston's, being in the "pro Sel De La Terre" chow camp, I would second this also. Better wine list certainly. The only drawback is that the seating is less private.

I would also say that the kingfish pricing and the sdlt pricing are very similar.

Tall order for the area, but getting a seat at a table towards the back corner of Houstons might be worth considering. Good atmosphere, low lighting, and as long as you're away from the front bar area it should be on the calm and quiet side (from the looks of it they draw quite an after-work crowd, although that is true for basically any place in that vicinity worth going to). Their food is decent, though I don't think their wine list is very extensive.

One of my favorites in the North End is actually quite close to FH: Taranta, at the near end of Hanover St. Reasonable prices ($10/20/25 for 1st/2nd/3rd courses), creative Italian with occassional South American flourishes.
