Hi... I am moving to Somerville from Portland, Oregon and am trying to replace certain items that didn't make it over here with me for one reason or another. The things I am needing most urgently are a Chemex pot, somewhere to buy unbleached filters, and half-sheet pans. I am located near Davis, but for better prices I will travel. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I'm sure I'll have lots of other questions soon, but I'm trying to read as many old posts as possible first, so that I can avoid asking questions about stuff that's been covered a million times already.

For a chemex pot, try China Fair on Mass Ave north of Porter Square - not all that far from Davis. For sheet pans, you could try Eastern Bakers Supply down near North Station on the very edge of the North End. Eastern Bakers has weird hours, though: early morning until 4 or 4:30pm. Maybe someone else knows the exact hours - or you could call.
While you're there, you could check out the chocolate, Valrhona cocoa, and neat ingredients at Dairy Fresh Candies. They have a website www.dairyfreshcandies.com

I'd recommend buying baking pans on amazon.com. If you spend over $25, some items are qualified for super saver shipping. For Chicago Metallic Pans though I found them cheapest at Williams-Sonoma (surprisingly).

speaking of williams-sonoma, i was there tonight and saw a bunch of their nonstick bakeware on clearance (including half- and quarter-sheet pans).

i would go with pastrytroll's recommendation and get your pans at eastern bakers (and pick up silpats for half- and quarter-sheet pans if you don't already have 'em -- great prices!).

after your trip to dairy fresh, walk over one block to galleria umberto for arancini (only during early lunch hours -- they sell limited amounts)! welcome to boston/somerville!
