Hi all

foodie friends coming in to town this weekend. Made a reservation at oleana but they are not into having their four year old with a babysitter. So don't know what to do? Any suggestions - my reservation can not be changed to five now could wiat for a patio seat.

I would go to Jasper White's Summer Shack in Alewife. It is big, noisy but you can talk quietly at your table and there are tons of kids running around. Great seafood. We always take out of town guests there.

I second the recommendation for Summer Shack -- we just went there this past weekend with a 1 1/2 year old and they gave her a balloon and told us that she was free to walk around the restaurant. Plus it's fun to get a clambake when friends are visiting from out of town.

I'd also recommend East Coast Grill. It's pretty loud and casual so kids don't bother anyone, but the food is truly delicious.

East Coast Grill head and shoulders above Summer Shack. Both can absorb kids, but the food at ECG is far far better. We've taken our son there from about age 1 on (he's 4+ now). If you go early, you don't have to wait. The staff is gracious, the food is excellent, and as mentioned, it's loud and bustling enough to handle parties of all ages.
