has anyone been to the apollo grill on harrison ave in chinatown lately?

i've never been there and i'm thinking of trying it very soon. i'm a little hesitant as i've read some bad reviews (slow service, overpriced food, gratuity automatically added on to the bill, waitress demanding higher tip)

is there a price minimum if you dine in? would i be better off going for the luncheon specials? is the gratuity added onto the bill for a party of one? any help would be appreciated. thank you!

I've had a below average monkfish stew there once but I've heard some good things about their sushi from a couple of chefs.

Not really overpriced but somewhat average. We go there alot for lunch (work related) and the lunches are good value (hot stone bi bim bap, and unaju are my usual items). It's not a destination place but will do in a pinch.

Apollo is mainly an after-hours joint. It is packed between 1-3am. I had a great kim chi stew there one early morning.

I have gone for lunch many times, but never for dinner. The service has always been fine, and tip added to bill only with a very large group (we often go for work-related lunches). Many in our group have like the sushi, the Bi Bim Bop, and the lunch boxes. It's a much better deal pricewise for lunch- the prices go up quite a bit for dinner, according to the menu.
