        <content>Brian McGrory's column in today's Globe is devoted to my favorite breakfast place in the city, Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe, on Columbus Ave.  Seems that last week Charlie's was given the James Beard Award as an "American Classic."  
 
And a classic Charlie's is. For those who have never been there, Charlie's, which has been around for over seventy-five years, serves up absolutely terrific food - try the turkey hash - in one of the most authentic atmospheres in town. In addition to great food, Charlie's is run by some of the nicest people in town.   </content>

Charlie's is, hands-down, my favorite breakfast spot in the world.
