ok, i just just just went through this. and i put my deposit down at party favors last week. konditormeister was a sweatshop and the people were awful and they couldn't do what i wanted. and icing on the cake didn't work in marzipan. i went with party favors. they were great. i also looked at montillio's....not impressed. let me know if you need more info. i went with a marzipan iced almond cake with choc. rasp filling. it will have buttercream swiss dots and a bow on top. good luck. i've heard wonderful wonderful things about cakes to remember by ellen bartlett. party favors raved about her and her literature was great. my wedding is way too small for her cakes though.....

don't go to kondeitermeister (sp?)- the cakes look beautiful but taste GROSS. and they are such a mill, they could care less about YOU. i just had a cake from a local bakery, D'Amici's, in Wakefield, on New Salem Street and I couldnt believe how good it was. They had tons of wedding stuff all around the shop. I ordered a gold cake w/ buttercream frosting, 'french' custard filling and a raspberry jam layer over the filling (at their suggestion) and it was fresh and wonderful, and looked beautiful. might be worth a look.

I've tasted all three, and in my opinion Icing on the Cake is the best, especially their flavored cakes. I remember some great combos with amaretto and grand marnier. Cakes were moist as well. We chose them as our vendor after a comparitive tasting for an event facility I worked for some years back.

My experience with Party Favors was they look great but taste wasn't so great (I've heard different from other hounds, but that's been my experience.)

Konditor Meister was not good.

I have a friend who is a baker and some years ago she was offered a job at Konditermeister, but declined in disgust. She said what they were doing there had more to do with chemicals and artificial crap than baking. 'Nuff said.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like Konditor Meister is not worth the time for a tasting (wasn't excited about that one anyway...) and I now have a good list for some other tastings! Appreciate your input.

Much fresher and lighter tasting than Party Favors.

I would go with Party Favors. We used them for our wedding last May and everyone loved it. Not to mention, it's affordable, because the simple cakes are so good you really don't need to go crazy and spend a lot. I had no problems with them. We served about 150 people and we spend about $250, and everyone was happy, which was great. Enjoy and congrats on your wedding.

I'm probably getting this in too late, but, for what it's worth, there's a great one-woman show out in Lancaster, MA. Our cake was ABSOLUTELY beutiful, tasted great and was honestly the moistest cake I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot - I used to be a wedding planner!). Plus I like that she comes up with these great creations right from her home kitchen. Definitely one-on-one attention. Her name is Diane Rockwell and she goes by "The Cake Lady". You can check out her website, but I'll tell you that our cake came out even better than all of the ones shown! Soooo much better in person.

Good luck!

I just had to jump in here and say that my recent visit to Kondeitor Meister with a bride (I am a planner) was astonishing. The woman was SO amazingly rude to us and sooo NOT accomodating to our wishes.....it's hard to believe they do such a huge business. Their cakes may look beautiful but they have almost no taste and the frosting is disgusting. They have really become a "mill" and really really really lack any idea of what customer service implies. I would never recommend them to anyone!
