Your favorite Italian pizza in Seattle is...?

I have been looking but no luck finding the right Italian style pizza in this city. My only requirements are:
- thin crust
- whole slices of tomato
- basic pizza toppings, although feta cheese would be great on top :)

Any suggestions? I heard good things about Via Tribunali and La Vita e Bella, but don't know first hand what they are like.

Thanks much!
John

    1. Add Tutta Bella and Cafe Lago to your list as well...there's been lots written about all these pizzas (reviews, online, this board, etc), and each has their fans, so you can read up then try them for yourself.
Though I'm not sure about your tomato slices request-you mean instead of sauce (or even along with it)? That's not something I've ever had on pizza in Italy-only from American pizza places where it's offered as a topping.

Thanks. Yes, the slices can go alone on the cheese, or over sauce as well. I am not a fan of soggy pizza :)

              Try Zagi's in Ballard. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Interesting post -- the link is to Zagi's, a Mexican yarn/textile concern. It would seem that the relationship to pizza is, I dunno, obscure. But maybe it's just me.

              • I have searched high and low for good pizza in Seattle for the last 12 years. I was never able to find anything that was truly great until just recently. When I first arrived, Piecora's was my top pick, then the New York Pizza Place on 5th Ave NE. Now I have found nirvana. DeLaurenti's, in Pike Place Market new serves an amazing thin crust pizza. It is hands down the best pizza in Seattle. They do not do take-out. You can eat there at a dozen of so bar stools. Also, they close at 6 or 7. This makes it harder to fit into your schedule, but it is so worth it. In Portland I love Apizza Scholls, but sometimes it's a little greasy. When in Seattle, it's got to be DeLaurenti's.

                    Hooray,
Another Delaurenti fan. I was getting lonesome out here. They make fun pizzas with fun ingredients from their good (if pricey) deli, and it's a bargain. I have raved here before about the craftily caramelized crust, and huge, interesting slices. Also good and a good value are the salads - I love the mixed-green, which comes nicely dressed and with candied pecans, mandarin slices, feta, and focaccia.
Also try newcomers, Tutta Bella (Columbia City and soon Wallingford), and via Tribunale - tasty Neapolitan style. Have several, they're small (but feature concentrated flavors)...

I do not turn up my nose at most pizza, though, and enjoy a good pagliacci (like when they used Salumi's salumi - Fennochiona salami) and a pagliaccio salad (small is big), at least when they don't udercook them - soggy pizza is disappointing. I even enjoyed Stacia's Steak Pizza - now that was a surprise... It had lost its novelty the second time and there will probably not be a third, but it was fun once, at least.

In the day, I loved the Fire-Eater's special at Shakeys in El Paso - Hot Chorizo, Onion, Extra Jalapeno, and probably Pepperoni, Garlic, and more Jalapeno (and I may be forgetting something). Ok, so calories were not such a big deal to me in 1977, but it was fiery, tasty, and filling, along with a pitcher of beer.
