Curiousbaker's post on the Home Cooking Board has convinced me to try to buy a share of meat directly from a farm (thank you Curiousbaker!!). Has anyone tried more than one place or offer bases for comparison?

As a sidenote, one of the places on EatWild mentions their newly-laid eggs for $3/doz, which is a dollar more than the ones at Marino's, which are organic.

You might want to contact Blood Farm (family name, not chosen for the connection to butchering) in West Groton:
978 448-6669. I know they produce incredible ham and bacon.

Pilot Grove Farm in Stow sells its own lamb: 978-897-2808 small or large quantities.

Thanks for the endorsement of Blood Farm's pork. I just recently realized they raised it and have been curious. (Always thought of them as a halal butcher--so was surprised.)

A friend of a friend up in NC Mass raises lamb organically (doubt certified) and will be slaughtering in Feb. She sells whole animals, excellent quality, low price/lb. If interested please contact me, I'll put you in touch. You would have to pick up.
