Newton Area Eats

Will be in Newton for the weekend, Friday and Saturday nights. Am looking for interesting dinner recommendations. Am open to all kinds of food--Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Italian, Mexican, seafood, fusion, whatever.

Thanks.

    1. Blue Ribbon BBQ and Lumiere (new American/French) in W. Newton
Ariadne (Mediterranean) in Newtonville plus the Great Harvest Bakery and little cafe across Walnut St.
Johnny's Luncheonette, Sol Azteca (Mexican), Jumbo (Chinese), Appetito and Fiorella (both Italian) in Newton Center
Le Soir (french) and Baker's Best in Newton Highlands
Oishi (sushi), Met, Capital Grill (steaks) and Aquitaine Bis (french) in Chestnut Hill
Buff's Pub for chicken wings in Newton Corner
      Vecchia Roma in Nonantum
Sweet Tomato pizza in Newton Center and W. Newton

Thanks for the nice Newton compilation: to add to the list - Atrium mall houses Pho Pasteur (Vietnamese) - amongst other chain types of places - more chain type places across the street at Chestnut Hill mall - including Legal Seafoods (which can be okay on a good night) - In Newtonville a relatively new little Thai place called Lam's served up a nice take out dinner (and they have dining in as well) a month or so ago -- and great pub/steak tips are available at O'Hara's in Newton Highlands as well as R.J. Crowleys in West Newton - and I might add the little Japanese place next door to Crowleys called SHOGUN to the list if you like sushi -- I have had good luck on most visits and service is always great. If you are looking for the best -- I would vote for Lumiere as it tops my chart for the "Best in Newton" (not inexpensive).

I used to eat lunch every few weeks at O'Haras and always found it to be highly over-rated. I prefer Dunn Gaherin's for an Irish Pub atmosphere (decent fish and chips, nothing special, ok sandwich specials) and much prefer West St. Grill in Nonantum for steak tips, good mashed potatoes and spicy peppers served with the plates.

                Karoun - middle eastern Newtonville
Coconut Cafe - thai with good curry Newton Center
Amarin Of Thailand - thai Newton Corner

                I would second
                Blue Ribbon - best barbeque
                Sweet Tomato - great pizza
