where to buy kitchen stuff now that Kitchen etc. is gone?

So now that Kitchen etc. is sadly closed, where do you go to buy kitchen stuff? Of course there is William and Sonoma, but they are on the expensive side. I am looking for something close to home (Belmont) or work (Natick).

I really miss kitchen etc...

    1. There is China Fair in Cambridge and Newton and the two kitchen supply stores in Chinatown. Neither are as big as Kitchen etc was, but not bad.

Thank you so much for the China Fair advice. I didn't realize they have a store in Newton. That's on my way home :)

If you're hitting the China fair in Newton, you really should loop up to the HomeGoods, just past Nedham Ave on Rt.9, and the Marshalls on Needham Ave....They're both well stocked with Kitchen goods, I've bough all my Le Creuset at those two stores....

And, of course, get take-out from Fresh Farms for your dinner when you;'re through...;)

Fresh Farms Rotisserie Grille, I think is the full name...wonderfal homestyle Greek restaurant hidden behind a cinder-block cafeteria facade...right across from NTW, on Needham Ave (st?) in Newton...

Oohhh. That place is great. I used to get lunch there weekly when I worked nearby.

                  • I'm with you; I really miss it to. The problem is that I can't find a place that has such a wide range of choices. For example, even though W-S has quality stuff, they often only carry one brand of an item, and I may not think that item is worth it as a splurge item. Places like Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Linens n Things carry a wider range of brands, but often not more "professional" brands (i.e. Ateco for baking supplies) or not as complete of a selection from a certain line.

                      1. I like sur la table in the chestnut hill mall. More expensive than kitchens, etct. but they have alot of neat stuff. I also buy a lot of stuff on line now.

                          1. I think Macy's home department is great for kitchen stuff. I usually found most of the same things Kitchen etc. carried at Macy's, and they usually have a coupon or items on sale.

                              1. Kitchen Arts on Newbury Street is hands down the best kitchen store in the area. Intelligent selection of cookware and cutlery; really nice, helpful folks.

I second this rec. They are also incredibly helpful on the phone so if there is something specific you want you can check before going, and they will happily special-order for you if necessary. They'll also tell you if something is really not worth special-ordering. Old-fashioned terrific service all around.

                                    • This could be a blessing if you're willing to shop on e-bay, where they have a fabulous selection and prices are much cheaper.
