Has anyone been to Big Fresh yet? -- they are where Rami's was when they were in Framingham.

I was there for the first time the other day and found it a pleasant experience but nothing spectacular. I had a falafel in a pita with everything but hots. I'd go back when I was in the mood but wouldn't go out of my way otherwise.

The restaurant is "pizza-grinder shop chic." There was only one person making the sandwiches behind the counter so I had a 10 minute wait once I placed my order.

Interstingly enough, I found out that the people that own it also now own Tennessee's BBQ.

Anyone else been there and what did you think?

Been there twice in the year or so since they opened. I agree it was pretty good, but not memorable. The food was fresh, as advertised, portions were average, prices were just slightly above average. I thought the menu could have used a bit more variation. I don't think your description as "pizza-grinder shop chic" is particularly accurate. To me it seemed like they want to be Fresh City, but can't quite do it as far as the menu goes, although the quality might be a bit better at BF.
I didn't know the Tennessee's folks owned it.

Pleasant, but nothing spectacular just about sums it up...However, for salads, and other dishes for the calorie concsious, what made it good, for me, was that their were lower cal options that weren't CHICKEN...The fact that you could get any salad, wrap or stir-fry with baked salmon or tofu made it a good choice for a healthy meal; good price point, too...I'm planning on trying the felafel ingredients, with everything but the felafel, and salmon instead.

I think it's above pizza-grinder chic, after all they do have wine.;) Good enough for a quick week nite meal, nothing you'd do on a weekend...

I think that's funny about the Tennnessee's connection, since their menu makes such an in-your-face case for a healthy, spiritual lifestyle, organic farming and community activism...gottah laugh! Of course, the Commodore went for ribs next door while I got my salad, so everyone was happy....

After reading the last two responses, I feel the need to clarify what I meant by the term "Pizza-Grinder Shop chic," because it seems it was taken the wrong way.

I meant the term as a description of the decor and atmosphere -- a no frills table and booth set-up but a more aesthetically pleasing version of it. I didn't mean it as a negative in any way (it was said they are above this level of chic because they had wine), etc.

That's okay, I thought it was just a notch above Panera, myself....One thing I forgot to add, the seasonings, while good, just felt like they were *missing* something...?
