non-Chinatown Chinese--is there any point?

Any suggestions at all, within greater Boston (i.e., w/in subway, not commuter rail, range)?
Thanks!

    1. Mary Chung's in Central Sq., Rice Garden in Washington Sq., the place on Main St. in Camb. is pretty good. Faves of the board are Wang's and Zoe's in Somerville and Qingdao (sp) in N. Cambridge. The Jumbo in Newton Centre gets mixed reviews.

Thanks to you all! Useful recs indeed.

All the good Sichuan stuff is outside CT. Don't forget Sichuan Garden (Brookline) and Shangri-la (Taiwanese in Belmont).

It seems near to impossible to get any good Chinese food in my area (West of Boston near 495/90). Oh sure, you have a slew of the same old, same old, all generic bland chicken fingers with day glow orange sauce. I love Chinatown, be it in Boston, NYC or Toronto, but I'm tired of driving 30 miles for a good meal.

                RANT, RANT, RANT!

                Suggestions please.

Don't know if I can help you out much, but I have heard good things about Pacific Buffet on Rt. 9 Framingham. I've never been, though.

I used to live in Marlborough, and sorry to say, I nevre found anything close to Chinatown. There's just not the market for it in suburbia. You might try Orange Blossom on Rt. 20 in Sudbury. It is a bit more upscale and a BIT more authentic than other Metrowest Chinese joints.

I hear that Oishi (sp?) sushi has a branch in Sudbury (see related posts on this board), and I always liked Fugyaku, also in Sudbury on Rt. 20. But those are both Japanese.

It's Lotus Blossom, not Orange Blossom, and Framingham is not outside of 495. Pacific Buffet is good for what it is, but it isn't likely to satisfy the need for good real Chinese food.
Not much I can add though, I feel the pain.
