Skipjack's lobster roll report
In my insane frenzy to have a lobster roll in metrowest, I settled on the Needham street Skipjacks. Lobster was fresh, unadulterated, and lots of it; just a light bit of mayo, barely noticable. New England style hot dog bun was grilled and far too greasy for my liking...especially with all the rich lobster meat. Slaw and fries were unremarkable. $18.95...maybe not entirely worth it, but I'm not sure what the going rate is around....
Has anyone tried the lobster roll at Coolidge Corner clubhouse?

I think Boston Magazine got it right when in their new "Best of" issue they said the B&G Oyster House in the South End has the best lobster roll in town. Steep, but worth it.
Incidentally, Boston Magazine is horribly off the mark on so many other "best-of's", you have to believe they trade recognition for ad dollars. Joe V's as the "best neighborhoood restaurant in Boston"? Please. It's a mediocrity at dinner, and terrible at brunch. (And it's not beloved by the neighbors, either.)›3 Replies -
