Hey hounds,

I am wondering - does anyone have a favorite place to eat alone? Maybe a place with an especially friendly bartender/waiter?

Prefer a place in downtown, Brookline, or somewhere in between. And prefer to keep cost under $25 including tip (and maybe a beer).

I like Laurel and Deluxe Cafe (both on the S. End/Back Bay Border) for solo dinners in that price range.

I love the bar at Khao Sarn...Yoshi and Noon are great bartenders, the long marble bar is comfy, and the food is authentic, yet upscale Thai....

If you can go beyond a beer, their mango-infused sake and vodka martinis are light and not sweet, and a cobra will cure all ills...It's a blend of 13 Chinese medicinal herbs and whiskey. ;)

Although not in the area you prefer, I always feel very comfortable eating alone at the Middle East in Central Square, Cambridge. A very close second is Bukowski's in Inman - very sweet bartenders and waitstaff. Also, the best beer selection in Boston/Cambridge, in my opinion. :)
